The project was originally launched at Cityscape 2018 as "Aykon" but construction did not take place. The project was since redesigned and relaunched as Cavalli Tower in September 2021.

Cavalli Tower contains 485 units which are divided into three sections: the first floors are ‘luxury’, the middle section is ‘upper luxury’, while the top floors offer ‘super luxury’ features and finishes.

The luxury and upper luxury sections will have access to their own sky pool and sky gardens. The super luxury category boasts an infinity pool, a cigar lounge and a private pavilion, where residents can host their own private dinner parties and hire their own chefs.

Cavalli Tower was designed by Shaun Killa, who also created the Dubai Museum of the Future.

The 68th to 71st floors will be home to Damac's "Skylofts Collection," a range of penthouses and luxury units. According to the developer, the Skylofts Collection represents "a fresh approach to differentiating our ultra-luxury portfolio for end-users and property investors... the Skylofts Collection is the embodiment of a luxurious lifestyle unlike any other in Dubai, defined by opulent design aesthetics and access to uber-premium amenities."

According to Damac, the development’s progress is on schedule with current work on the superstructure expected to lead into the commencement of internal and external finishes in June 2024.

The initial casting of the raft foundation has just been completed, with over 2,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 4,500 cubic metres of concrete. The concrete pour took 25 hours.

The enabling, piling and excavation works have now been completed.

The piling and excavation works have been completed to 85%.

A total of 213 piles and approximately 1,400 metric tonnes of steel and 10,000cu/m of concrete are being used in the piling process, which entails drilling the ground to provide footings in order to transmit the building’s load to deep strong strata underneath.
