Where to Buy Target Gift Cards
There are three options for purchasing a Target gift card.
Option 1 – Buy Target e-Gift Card online
The easiest way the purchase a Target gift card and receive it quickly is by purchasing an e-gift card online.
Once you purchase an e-gift card, it will be sent to you or the recipient you choose electronically via Email or Text Message.
E-gift cards are often available for use immediately after they are purchased.

Gift cards are available in amounts from $10, $20, $25, $50, $75, $100 & $200, and the ability to add in a custom value amount between $5 – $500.
eGifts can be customized for any occasion – for example, Valentine’s day, Baby, Graduation, Wedding, Birthdays, Thank You, etc.
Option 2 – Purchase a Target Gift Card at a Target Store
You can purchase a physical, plastic Target gift card at any Target store location.
Physical Target GiftCards purchased in-store come in any amount between $5 – $500.

How do I check my Target gift card balance?
Here’s how to check the balance on your gift card to find out how much you have on the card.
There are three options to check your Target card balance:
1: Visit any Target store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you.
2: Call Target at 1-800-544-2943 to check your gift card balance.
3: Check your balance online.
If you don’t already have a Target account, you will need to create one to check the balance of your Target GiftCard online.
If you have saved a Target GiftCard to your Target account follow these steps:
- Access your Target account.
- Navigate to your “Account/Name“.
- Select “Gift cards“.
- Review your gift cards.
To check your card balance, you will have to enter the 15-digit card number and the Access Number or PIN.
These numbers can be found by gently removing the silver strip on the back of your physical Target GiftCard.
How do I add my Target Gift Card to my Account or Target App?
Here’s how to add your gift card to your Target account online or to your account on the Target App.
Target App:
- If you already have the Target app, skip to step number 2. You can download the Target app for Apple and Android.
- Access your Target account in the Target App.
- Select the “Wallet” tab.
- Select “Add” within the GiftCard section.
- Next, Select “Add Gift Card“.
- Scan the Target barcode on the back of the Target GiftCard or input the gift card number and the access code to add it to your account.
On your physical Target GiftCard, these numbers can be found by gently removing the silver strip on the back of your gift card.
Target.com:
- Access your Target account on Target.com.
- Navigate to your “Account/Name“.
- Select “Gift cards“.
- Select “Save a new gift card” or the + sign.
- Input the Gift card # and Access code to add it to your account.
On your physical Target GiftCard, these numbers can be found by gently removing the silver strip on the back of your gift card.

Here are the most frequently asked questions about the Target Card and shopping at Target in general:
Where can I use a Target Gift Card?
Target GiftCards can be redeemed in a Target store or on Target.com.
They can also be used to purchase the following:
- Alcohol and other restricted items
- At Starbucks within Target stores
- At Target Café
- At CVS Pharmacy within Target stores
- In-store at Target Optical (Target GiftCards cannot be used for online purchases with Target Optical.)
However, Target GiftCards can’t be used to:
- Make RedCard payment(s)
- Purchase American Express, Visa, and Mastercard gift cards
- Purchase iTunes gift cards
- At Minute Clinics within Target stores
- Purchase specialty gift cards (gaming, restaurants, etc.)
- Purchase Target GiftCards
- Online at Target Optical (Target GiftCards can be used for in-store purchases with Target Optical.)
Note that Target.com is designed to accept up to 10 Target GiftCards per order as payment at checkout.
Do Target Gift Cards Expire?
No, your Target gift card balance does not expire.
Also, there is no activation, dormancy, or inactivity fee charged on unused Target cards.
Does Walgreens sell Target gift cards?

In addition, you can purchase Target GiftCards at CVS, Rite Aid, and Duane Reade.
What is Target Drive Up?
Target Drive Up service allows you to order items from the Target app, and Target brings them out to your car.
When you arrive at Target for your Drive Up order, you will have to park at the designated drive-up parking spaces at your local Target store.
Drive Up is available on the Target app for Apple and Android only.
To pick up your Drive Up order:
- Wait to receive a “Your order is ready” email and in-app notification.
- On the next screen, select I’m on my way when leaving for the store.
- Park in a designated parking spot labeled Drive Up. The designated parking spots are located near a store entrance.
- Select I’m here after you’ve parked. Then enter the parking stall number which will alert the team member.
- A Target team member will bring your order out to your vehicle and ask for the four-digit code in your Target app to confirm the order.
